The Friends of the Bergenfield Library
|
Through membership fees, contributions, and fundraisers, the Friends have raised thousands of dollars to purchase needed equipment and to acquire specialized materials
to enhance the patron's library experience. For almost 50 years the Friends of the Bergenfield Library have sponsored book sales, garage sales, trips, raffles, luncheons, teas, author talks and more. Among the items these fundraising efforts have brought to the library are:
- New sound system in the Friends' Room.
- A CD and DVD player for Children's Services.
- Power Point software.
- Computer hardware and software.
- Funding for various children's programs.
- Materials for the ESL program.
- Digitizing of the Twin Boro News.
- A wall-hanging system for the art displays in the gallery area and the Friend's Room.
- Microsoft Word for the Reference Department computers.
- Computers for the teen area.
- Security cameras.
- A system to track patron time at the reference computers.
The Friends sponsor the Tuesday morning programs and have presented programs that are interesting, entertaining, educational and thought-provoking. The Friends also volunteer in the Outreach program in which library materials are brought to the homebound.
Become an integral part of supporting the library – become a member of the Friends. There is Friends' meeting the 2nd Thursday of each month (no meeting in July) at 1 p.m. in the library.
Your ideas and input would be greatly appreciated. We encourage you to join in our work to support the library.
